We set off for Laos Ngam this afternoon. It was about a two hour drive, but I must of been pretty tired because I slept the whole way! When I woke up, we were in the town. Our first stop was at the Green Earth Centre (GEC), which is the place Mom will be working. It was beautiful. Everything was very green and luscious. The next stop was, our new house! I was very excited to see where I was going to live for the rest of the year.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how ngam the house was. When we arrived, our landlord was there. He did a Lao house blessing ceremony for us.
As soon as we pulled into the driveway, a whole bunch of our neighbours ran to greet us. There was a bunch of kids too and even a few that were my age. I look forward to making some new friends soon!
*Word Of the Day: Nao (pronounced: now), it means cold.

Sa baai dii Taya ….. Dii to hear about your ngam neighbors & kids your age – music to my ears – what you will learn & teach these children so far away from us (happy face from Auntie) …. blessing your & moms stay in your new home – such a gift ….. I guess we all thought the traditional Lao home is where you would be living – what an up-grade – CUSO takes such wonderful care of their volunteers !!! …… phob kan mai ….. khwap jai

I am looking forward to maybe teaching the kids some English, and learning Lao in return! It is a very beautiful house. CUSO does take very good care of us !

Hopefully you can user he word NAI when you are sleeping. How is school going. Do your new friends dress in western grab ? I am so glad your house was blessed.

School is going well! As of now I am only doing online schooling, but hopefully real school will start up soon! A lot of them do dress in clothes that you would see over in Canada and America, but they also wear things like the traditional Lao “sinh”.

A very good start indeed! We have tried a few Laos dishes which includes their infamous noodle soup and rice stir fries. But I don’t I’ll be trying other delacacies like “frog legs” anytime soon.
